Basel is recognized as Switzerland’s architectural capital. Hardly any other region is home to so many internationally active architectural offices. In order to showcase the highly diverse potential of building culture, expertise and enthusiasm in the city and surrounding area, Architektur Dialoge has initiated a new biennial platform for architecture and urban development: the Architekturwoche Basel (AWB). The first edition will be held from 9–15 May 2022.

Programme update from 30 March 2022
The first Architekturwoche Basel (AWB) will take place from 9–15 May 2022 and present three programming formats of its own, along with more than 100 events by partners in and around Basel. Most of the events are free of charge.
Reservations for the panel discussions and site tours can be booked from mid-April.
Production and installation of Basel Pavillon
The modules of the Basel Pavillon are currently being prefabricated by Husner AG Holzbau and will be installed at the Dreispitz site in April. The opening of the Basel Pavillon will take place on Tuesday, 10 May at 6pm.

Architecture talk at Swissbau Focus
The opening event of Architekturwoche Basel will already be held at Swissbau on 5 May 2022. Under the title “Real Spaces: Position, Process & Perspective”, Maria Lisorgorskaya, Amy Perkins and James Bining from the British collective Assemble will join with architects Charles Renfro (New York) and Fernando Romero (Mexico City/New York) for a discussion of the topic.

The AWB is looking for helpers for various afternoon and evening assignments during the week from 9 to 15 May 2022. With thought-provoking contributions from the fields of architecture and urban development, current topics relating to building and housing as well as numerous events in and around Basel, this week dedicated to architecture promises an interesting and enriching working environment.
